The Inheritance Quiz
Hi Everybody,
I made a quiz about the book The Inheritance. Please check it out and tell me what you think.
As I said above it is about the book, not the movie. I don't want you to get confused.

Edith & James Percy
Hey everybody!
I thought this was the cutest thing and I wanted to share it with you.
We have a pair of ducks that are visiting our pool daily now. I'm hoping that they have a nest or something in our back yard. A couple of days ago my mom saw some big birds fly into the pool. I stood up and looked and found a male pecking at a female. Well, I didn't like that, but then my mom and I saw that it was two males fighting and one was standing on the female. It looked like she was going to drown. (Don't worry this story has a happy ending.) Then one of the males backed away as the other male stood up in the water and flapped his wings. He then went over the the female and they both got out of the water. The male who had lost got out of the water to, but on the opposite end. The pair of ducks looked sooooooooo cute together and the story reminded us of The Inheritance, so we named the female Edith (Edee for short) and the male...can you guess...James Percy (J.P. for short). Of course we won't see the other male duck again...his pride was too hurt. But we named him anyway. I'm sure you can guess...Lord Arlington.
Just like in the book they live happily ever after. And I'm hoping that in the spring we'll have a bunch of little duckies.
PS: If you are wondering about the kitties...they are very happy about it all. They love watching them. I don't know what they are thinking when they are watching the happy couple, but they are having fun. Even now Tyler is asleep and the birds are still in the pool. I guess they've decided to accept the Edee and J.P. as part of the family.

November 2008 Meeting
Happiness is time spent with a friend and looking foward to sharing time with them again.

A laugh is a smile that bursts.

Associate yourself with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for 'tis better to be alone than in bad company.

Very Creative Writing!
I received this in my email Inbox today. Read it and notice the diction, detail, imagery, syntax, and tone!
Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.
Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.
Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old man and was considered a positive roll model for millions.
Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough, Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart.
The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Writers Workshop III
ACTION:
1. Now that you've brainstormed why we write, start making a list of what people write. Think genres and forms and products. Look around your world and write down the places that you see the written word. (I possess a list of 200+ different items. I have a prize for anyone who comes up with an idea that's not on the list!)
2. Listen to and Read the words to the following song written by Carole King ~ You've Got a Friend
When you're down and troubled
And you need some loving care
And nothing, nothing is going right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night
Chorus:
You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there
You've got a friend
If the sky above you
Grows dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind begins to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon you'll hear me knocking at your door
(Chorus)
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend
When people can be so cold
They'll hurt you, and desert you
And take your soul if you let them
Oh, but don't you let them
(Chorus)

Writers Workshop II
ACTION:
1. Print a copy of the Writing/Literary/Publishing Terms (attachment via email) and place them in your WW binder under Tab #3 (Style, Terms & Techniques).
2. Under Tab #4 (Forms of Writing), start making a list titled "Why We Write" ~ bullet format is fine. You may expound on each reason, if you like. Think about all the reasons you write throughout the day, month, year and write them down. Why do others write? Why is writing important to us personally, our families, our community and our world? Take a couple days and think of all the reasons you can on your own first and then ask your parents, siblings, friends (not in B&W Club), and others.
Bless your day!
